Cobram-Barooga

Murray River at Cobram

The twin towns of Cobram and Barooga sit either side of the picturesque Murray River. With wide sandy beaches and towering river gums, Cobram-Barooga offers a relaxed lifestyle set amid fine agricultural land, rich in fruit and dairy.

River activities
Picnic at one of the 103 sandy beaches along the Murray River between Yarrawonga and Barmah, the biggest and most accessible of which is Thompsons Beach at Cobram.

Try your luck and find a quiet spot to cast a fishing line, strap on some waterskis or paddle a canoe through the river red gums. Or if you prefer dry land, walk around Quinn Island and see the abundant wildlife.

Sporting excellence
Tee off for 36 holes at one of the two championship golf courses at Cobram-Barooga Golf Club, or play a game of bowls at the Barooga Sports Club.

Local produce
Cobram is the largest soft stone fruit-producing area in Australia, is surrounded by dairy country and is home to the familiar Murray Goulburn – Devondale brand. Sample local produce along the Farm Gate trail - a route that tours farms that produce strawberries, cheese, stone fruit, citrus, cactus, roses, and lavender - or stop and sample award-winning wine at winery cellar doors throughout the region.
