Melbourne Aquarium

Melbourne Aquarium

The Melbourne Aquarium is a ‘must-see’ attraction for any visitor to Melbourne. Conveniently located on the banks of the Yarra River in the city centre, the state-of-the-art Melbourne Aquarium harbours thousands of creatures from the Southern Ocean.

Over four levels, you’ll see delicate sea dragons, cuttlefish, moray eels, giant crabs and sharks. Explore under the surface of Victoria’s bays, estuaries and rivers in the habitats area and catch a glimpse of starfish, eels and turtles among the mangroves and rockpools. You’ll also be dazzled by the floor-to-ceiling coral atoll and the exotic array of neon sea jellies. And as you travel deeper, you’ll wander through transparent tunnels surrounded by sharks, stingrays and sea turtles. Finally, prepare yourself for a simulated underwater roller coaster ride – the ultimate underwater experience.

Children can see how fish view life underwater or dissect a fish via a computer screen at the interactive 'Fish Works'. There’s also the ‘Blue Zoo’, which takes a very hands-on approach to marine conservation.

Plus, Melbourne Aquarium has a café, restaurant, lecture halls, an amphitheatre and a shop. Present you valid Met ticket for discounted entry.
