Four-wheel driving

Four wheel driving in Gippsland

Join a four-wheel drive or adventure tour and see the best of Victoria, off-road. If you have your own vehicle but lack local knowledge of tracks and trails, become part of a travelling caravan of vehicles lead by a qualified local guide. Or perhaps you want someone else to do the driving and negotiate the bends in the track while you take in the scenery.

Experience rainforest, woodlands, heath and ocean beaches of eastern Victoria, and the towering eucalypt forests, pristine waterfalls and lakes of the Yarra Valley and Dandenongs Ranges region closer to the city.

In western Victoria, explore the rocky outcrops of the Grampians and sandy dunes of the Little Desert National Park. The Great Ocean Road offers rugged coastal scenery combined with lush forest and great walks. Most four-wheel drive tracks can also be negotiated on a trail bike.

Note:
Always check that trails are open. Many tracks close at certain times of the year. Others are quite remote so you need to ensure you have enough water, spare tyres and a good map before you set off. In some national parks, you need to register and acquire a permit, as the amount of traffic travelling through the area is closely monitored.
