Waterfalls in Gippsland
Wilsons Promontory and surrounds:
Agnes Falls
Situated near Toora, Agnes Falls are the highest single span waterfalls in Victoria with a drop of 59 metres.
Hidden within the hills of the Strzelecki Ranges, the meandering Agnes River cascades over rocks into a deep picturesque gorge. The falls are particularly spectacular after heavy rain.
An easy 200-metre walking track leads from the car park to a viewing area overlooking the falls and a small picnic ground set among tall blue gums on the grassy banks of the river makes a delightful setting for a picnic.
The Agnes Falls are reached from the South Gippsland Highway at Toora by following Silcocks Hill Road, Hazel Park Road and Agnes Falls Road.
Central Gippsland:
Toorongo Falls
Discover the cooling rainforest beauty of the Toorongo Falls, just north of Noojee.
The falls are spectacular, particularly after rain.
An easy 500-metre walking track leads from the car park to a viewing point on the way to the base of the falls. The track continues across to the Toorongo River and then back to the car park. A branch track may be followed upstream to Amphitheatre Falls.
The open, grassy areas along the river near the entrance to the Reserve are popular for picnicking, barbeques and camping – ideal for families and large groups.
The Toorongo Falls are reached from the Mt Baw Baw Road just outside of Noojee.
Gippsland Lakes and surrounds:
Little River Falls
Little River Falls is a beautiful 600-metre-high waterfall within the Snowy River National Park north of Buchan. A short walk takes you to the viewing platform and a little further downstream is Victoria’s deepest gorge, Little River Gorge with a cliff-top lookout.
The Little River Falls are reached from Gelantipy Road north of Buchan.
