Well known for its spectacular river red gum forests, it’s no surprise that the Murray region is dotted with outlets for furniture, home wares and art made from red gum. Renowned for its dense and lustrous auburn glow, red gum is ecologically harvested and milled in the region. Join a guided tour to view this process at the Arbuthnot Sawmill in Koondrook, west of Echuca. In the town of Koondrook you can also find wood-turners, and cabinet and furniture makers that design and build to order, and showrooms full of quality local craftsmanship.

Browse through art galleries and boutique shops along High Street, Echuca-Moama. Housed in heritage buildings with wide balconies and verandahs, these boutiques are packed with fashion clothing and shoes, books, antiques, gifts, arts and crafts, jewellery and novelties. Pottery, Aboriginal art, original paintings, wrought ironwork and red gum furniture and accessories are just some of the pieces you will find.

Mildura also has a reputation for stylish shopping in a picturesque setting. A myriad of speciality shops are scattered throughout Mildura and the town also boasts two major shopping precincts - Mildura City and the recently renovated Centro Plaza. Its regular Sunday market at Langtree Mall is also guaranteed to add an extra splash of colour to your shopping experience.
