| With bold, provocative decor inspired by the Baroque style of the 17th century, Baroq House is best summed up in three words: lush, lavish, and exclusive. Saunter into the main bar and you'll find chandeliers, vibrant swirly-patterned carpet, gilt-edged furniture and a backlit marble bar. Downstairs in the vault is a black-and-white tiled dance floor and vodka bar, decorated with an ultra-stylish crowd who shake the chandeliers on the weekends. Behind the bar you'll find exclusive beverages from across the globe. The beers flowing from the taps are a pair of German brews, Spaten and Franziskaner. Settle in for a read if you're after wine as there are several dozen on offer. The whiskey section of the hefty spirits list is worth reading for the additional educational material alone; you'll soon be a discerning sipper with a solid knowledge of the merits of Speyside versus Highland malts. The cocktails at Baroq are as over the top as the wallpaper, with the signature range of cocktails clearly in the blow-the-budget category. For those with less pocket money to spend, there is an extensive range of more reasonably priced cocktails. Try The Buddha, which mixes mascarpone and peanut butter with vanilla vodka, creme de cacao and maple syrup. Of course, the snack menu is similarly suave, including cheeses from France, Italy and the UK, saganaki and cured meats. |
