A little slice of Europe has dropped into Smith Street Collingwood with the arrival of Cavallero. This cafe and wine bar embraces simple and classical decor: high ceilings, white walls and dark wooden tables combined with a long, stylish bar, creating a spacious and relaxed atmosphere.

The gents that own and run Cavallero have used their fine dining background to construct a Euro-centric wine list with an array of unusual drops by the glass or bottle, including the Chateau de Segries from the Rhone Valley in France. With 20 reds and 20 whites available, not to mention sparkling wines and digestifs, you'll be spoilt for choice. There's also an expanding collection of single malts and some rare and distinguished vodkas lurking behind the bar.

The tap beer is a rotating keg of Victorian micro-brewed beer, which turns over once a week. Beers that have flowed from the tap include Gage Road, Hargraves Hill, and 3 Ravens. Try the boutique bottles for some rare brews including Quilmes (Argentina), the clean and bracing Pacena (Bolivia), or the rich and malty Birra Moretti La Rossa (Italy).

The Cavallero kitchen is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The menu changes regularly and has a local, seasonal focus.
