1 July: Logical Boats

Postcards Logo

This week on Postcards, it's ships ahoy as the team cruise around some of Victoria’s most spectacular bay side destinations. Glenn Ridge shows off his 'sail' of the century to Esther, Lawrence survives a feast of Titanic proportions, Glen jumps aboard a luxury cruiser, but first it's all about boats, beds, breakfast and Bridget.

B&B On The Sea

B&B On The Sea
Aptly named the B&B On The Sea, this 35 foot sailing cruiser offers the anxious sailor in all of us the chance to sail and sleep in the heart of Melbourne's Docklands. The beauty of this little adventure is that you don't need to be a veteran of the sea but you will get to steer the boat and actually sail.

Leisure Boating
Leisure boating is something not all of us can afford and you probably don't want to pay for something that realistically, you'll only use for a couple of weeks each year. However, the Leisure Boating Club allows you to own a luxury cruiser for four weeks of the year. By using this new way of cost effective smart boating, luxury boating has never been more accessible.

Lathamstowe Guest House
This beautiful Queenscliff Mansion's history dates back to 1883, when it was owned by the Church of England. Later it was neglected and became derelict until new owners Geoff and Marni Riddell, found the property and gave this local landmark a facelift and a brand new life.

Glenn Ridge, Brighton Yacht Club

Brighton Yacht Club
The Royal Brighton Yacht Club is one of the oldest yacht clubs in Australia having been founded in 1875. The Club, situated on the Esplanade at Middle Brighton in Melbourne, boasts such famous members as champion sailor John Bertrand, who stores his Etchell at the Marina. Esther is at the yacht club this week because this is where keen sailor and host of boating program 'The Boatique' - Glenn Ridge tells us one of his favourite sailing boats is moored.

Sealegs

Sealegs
Wouldn't it be great if the boat could just magically make its way from the land into the water? Well, some clever little cookie has come up with the solution. Sealegs is the newest invention to hit the water in recent times, with no mooring necessary.
