22 April: Dinner Party

Postcards Logo

This week Postcards joins the 300 club. That’s right, 300 episodes since we started way back in 1999. To celebrate, the team has travelled to all parts of Victoria to gather the food for a lavish dinner party while you the viewers will get the chance to win a brand new Honda Jazz.

Postcards: Montalto Vineyard and Olive Grove, Red Hill

Montalto Winery
Join Bridge at Montalto Vineyard and Olive Grove in Red Hill, where she is on the hunt for the perfect drop for our dinner party. Only 73 kilometres south of Melbourne and set amongst the Mornington Peninsula's hinterland, Montalto is famous for its delicious pinot noir and chardonnay.

Postcards: Red Hill Cheese

Red Hill Cheese
Just up the road from Montalto is Red Hill Cheese. Here, Trevor Brandon and his son Burke established their small cheesery and cellar door in April 2000. The cheeses at Red Hill Cheese are handcrafted primarily to complement local wines. But from what Bridge hears there is another trend taking off in the tasty world of cheese, join her as she finds out exactly what this is.

Postcards: Irrewarra Sourdough Bakery

Irrewarra Bread
Irrewarra Sourdough Bakery is run by John and Bronwynne Calvert in converted stables that are more than one hundred years old. This historic building was built by John's great-grandfather on land that was first worked by his great-great-grandfather. Loz tests his skills at making bread the old fashioned way: hand made with all natural ingredients.

Postcards: Berry Farm

Picking Fruit
Esther travels to Bacchus Marsh, a mecca for the fruit lovers of Victoria. When the season is right, there are many orchards here where you can get close to nature and pick your own fruit.

Postcards: The Enterprize

The Enterprize
The Enterprize is an authentic replica of an 18th century tall ship that not only sailed these waters but brought the first European settlers to Port Phillip Bay in 1835. Glen discovers the sail ship was launched in 1997 at a cost of 2.5 million dollars. This seafaring time machine is made entirely out of timber, is 27 metres long and our closest link to Melbourne's maritime history.

Postcards: Fernleigh Farm

Fernleigh Farm
The place that will yield pork bellies is the fabulous Fernleigh Farm tucked away on the über fertile ridge of the Great Divide at Bullarto. Loz discovers that Fernleigh is a totally organic farm that was set up by Fiona and Nicolas Chambers and has been running for 17 years. They raise Wessex saddleback pigs of which only 100 remain in the world.

Postcards: Fishing in Buxton

Fishing in Buxton
Glen travels to Buxton, a tiny dot on the map one hundred kilometres north east of Melbourne along the Maroondah Highway and 30 minutes past Healesville. This is a town with no historical significance; there are no stories of bushrangers or the discovery of gold. Buxton is just a pleasant yet often overlooked spot at the base of the Cathedral Ranges.
