Rutherglen’s only Main Street Traditional Bed and Breakfast

Located in the center of Rutherglen, this two story commercial building was the town’s Bank of Australasia. The building was constructed in 1899 and opened for business in January 1900. Since closing as a bank a tasteful conversion has taken place to provide luxury bed and breakfast accommodation.

Enter by the side gate and breezeway, which was the original street entrance to the Managers residence. The building has an imposing banking chamber with 14 ft ceilings, log fire, ceiling rose’s, polished floor boards and is currently used as the lounge and dining room.

The original walk in vault is still part of this impressive room. Climb the magnificent banistered staircase to one of the two large guest bedrooms, which are located to the rear of the building. Both rooms are decorated with swag and tail curtains of a bygone era to cover the 8 ft high windows and have a large en-suite spar bathroom.

For your sleeping comfort our top quality king size beds have been outfitted with luxurious cotton sheets, woollen underlay’s, woollen doona’s and electric blankets with variable heat controls.

Heating and cooling of your room is by your individually controlled split system and may be enhanced by the use of the ceiling fan. Each room has its own TV, DVD player, CD system and ironing facilities.

There is a coffee table and lounge chairs for your comfort and tea / coffee making facilities along with home baked cookies are available on the guest verandah, just a few short steps from your room. Enjoy a relaxing cooked breakfast in the “Chamber” or if weather permits on the “Breezeway”
