| Housed in the grungy end of the famed Chapel street, Destino Latin Bar is a little beacon of smouldering light, done up in suggestive reds, sand-blasted walls and gaudy trinkets that are overseen by wall-mounted Our Lady of Guadalupe icons. True to its name, this Latin bar embraces the juice of a nation, tequila; though it's done with a little more panache than your stock standard lick-sip-and-suck party trick, a ritual no doubt associated with a few memories that remain happily buried in the past. Boasting an extensive range of imported beer and tequila, other ales including the Conchita and of course a classic margarita are available and are complemented by some spunky bar snacks. Tacos and nachos are de rigueur for foodstuffs of the Latin variety and, while they're not the most inventive meals on the block, they're still pretty darn tasty. What Destino lacks in space it makes up for in attitude. With semi-booths and al fresco seating up for grabs, these good times are best served with a people-perving seat and a wedge of lime: let the Latin vibes roll. |
