The Wicked Virgin. Calico Town Wines

An old shearing shed, the inspiration for a red clay hand-built cellar door, is now the home of The Wicked Virgin and Calico Town Wines.  The Olive Grove and Vineyard sweep down the northern hill overlooking Rutherglen.

Generations ago, the property was a vineyard, and there are still derelict gold mines... the historical spirit of Rutherglan.  This heritage is now reflected in the replanted vineyard and the golden Extra Virgin Olive Oils.

The grapes from our small family vineyard are hand-picked at selected prime ripeness, producing wines characteristic of Rutherglen.  Our wines are available for tasting and purchase or to enjoy with a relaxed, extended lunch in the Cellar Door or outside in warmer weather!

Olives from our grove are picked and processed on the property.  Oils  in a range of varieties allow the opportunity to taste the extraordinary flavours of  FRESH Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil. 

Fresh espresso coffee, rich thick Italian Hot Chocolate and cakes made on site from our favourite recipes allow a relaxed break from the frenzy of "winery hopping".

The Wicked Virgin and Calico Town Wines offers a rustic, comfortable venue for a variety of functions by arrangement.  We even specially arrange the best sunsets in the area!!

Bicycle is a grand way to experience Rutherglen and we are only 2 kilometres from the Post Office!  An amazing alternative is Char-a-Banc Tours...a 1918 "transport of delight" which seats 15 passengers for picnics, tours or memorable events.
