Ride, wine and dine on a guided cycle tour through the majestic old vineyards and wineries of the Rutherglen Wine Region. This year’s event will feature the wines and food of the famed Mediterranean. The great thing about the Tour is the 'special' treatment you receive at each of the wineries you visit.....special tastings with the Winemaker, behind the scenes experiences and special offers only available to riders. The weekend’s activities include: - Saturday Breakfast - Tour de Rutherglen Ride - Tour de Rutherglen Winemaker’s Dinner - Sunday Tour Breakfast & Registration – Saturday 7.30am to 9.00am Saturday morning starts with breakfast and registration at the Rutherglen Wine Experience. Get to know the team; catch up with old friends and meet this year’s new faces. Tour de Rutherglen ride – Saturday 9.00am It’s time to get on your bike and take a leisurely amble along Rutherglen’s country roads visiting 6 wineries along the way. You have the choice of a 35km or a slightly longer 44km ride. The rides include: - A scrumptious gourmet picnic lunch - Informative tasting sessions on Rutherglen’s unique wine varieties - Pick-up and delivery of wine purchased en route - A sag wagon for anyone who runs out of puff - Uncle Toby’s bars and munchies to sustain you during the day Tour de Rutherglen Winemaker’s Dinner – Saturday 7.30pm Cathy Fenson from Rutherglen’s infamous ‘FORKS & CORKS’ will excite your taste buds with a Mediterranean inspired feast in the historic surrounds of Chambers winery. Guests will be greeted with a complimentary glass of Rutherglen sparkling wine before indulging in a delicious 3-course meal. A shuttle bus service is available to take you to and from the dinner. Sunday Tour Join the locals as we visit a couple of additional wineries and stop for lunch at Tuileries Mediterranean themed courtyard before heading back with plenty of time to spare for the drive home.
