| While prominent public institutions are an important part of a city’s artistic life, smaller, independent galleries are probably a good indication of its health. Kings ARI is a not-for-profit artist-run initiative which seeks to promote the best in contemporary arts practice. Spanning disciplines including sound and performance art, lens-based work is a special interest. Comprising three exhibition spaces, one of which is a purpose-built video projection room, Kings ARI also houses studios for the use of emerging artists. Running a diverse program of both submitted and Kings-curated shows, exhibitions feature artists from across Australia.
