Not for the fainthearted or easily spooked this wee gem of a find is called The Haunted Bookshop at 15 Mckillop St in the city. It is a treasure trove of occult & arcane paraphenalia for those that way inclined.(Me!). Several purchases later including yet another pack of Tarot Cards, I learnt that the owner of the store, A Mr Drew Sinton who evidently has his own tv show aptly titled Haunted Austraila and is a professional Ghostbuster conducted 2 hour historical walking tours around the haunted streets of Melbourne on Saturday Nights at 8.30 for $20 a pop which i thought was frightfully good value (no pun intended). No kids allowed sorry, too scary. It was a fascinating & somewhat spine-chilling experience as we delved deep into Melbourne's dark past being informed of both old & recent accounts. The very sinister but thoroughly engaging Mr Sinton, clad all in black of course was a wealth of knowledge & knew of more than 50 ghosts in the CBD alone & another 100 in Suburbia. There was The Francis Hotel built in the 1800's which we visited and found it had a particularly disturbing and bloodthirsty history attached to it. It was a venue for executions, epidemics, brothels and murders, not the type of activity which is readily welcomed. I wont give too much away but i will say that this Haunted Melbourne Ghost Tour is an absolute must for those die hard fans of the Supernatural or anyone just looking for something a little extraordinary. I know I ventured home thoroughly replete with my phantom fill and needless to say I did sleep with my bedroom light on. Take The Tour If You Dare.
