It was a balmy summer evening at Southbank with my lovely girlfriend Amanda.
I was out with my girl celebrating having bought a new house, and the food and drinks that we had at Crown were magic.
Having had our culinary fill, we both waltzed out of Crown on the boulevard along the Yarra, holding hands, and absorbing the man-made wonder that is the Melbourne city skyline.
Together we leant over the barriers that protected us from the cold murky waters of the Yarra, and watched in mute wonder as the sudden flares of the Crown gas-fires surged upward and reflected their magnificence onto the waters of the Yarra.
Briefly I wondered about the green credentials of a company that was willing to burn masses of gas to heat the open air, but then I quickly remembered it was a spectacle, and that I should enjoy, and not think.
Finally, our bellies full and our minds awash with the sights, sounds and smells of the city; we happily retreated to the Crown underground carpark to bring our evening of bliss to an end.
