Since my son moved to Melbourne about 6 years ago it has become a city close to my heart and every visit makes it a little more familar. I love the lanes and arcades of the CBD and the interesting streets of Fitzroy (Brunswick street almost feels like home and I can walk down it in my mind and remember most of the shops!)
But most of all I love Melbourne for its chocolate shops - and most of all KokoBlack! (decided as the best after much research and taste testing!)
I could never visit Melbourne without a visit (or several) to this wonderful place and I will never forget the lovely young lady who brought me tissues and helped me through a "mothers moment" when I had just said goodbye to my son last November and hurried to KokoBlack just in time to sit down and cry uncontrollably at a table in their gorgeous upstairs salon.
Needless to say I recovered with the help of the best hot chocolate and a selection of the finest handmade chocolates and the KokoBlack experience earned another "goldstar" and cemented its place on my "never to be missed in Melbourne" list.
KokoBlack are in the Royal Arcade, CBD - the surroundings are olde worlde, the ambience is great, service impeccable and the chocolate just superb! There are always plenty of chocs in my hand luggage on the return trip and they are carefully rationed and savoured to prolong the Melbourne memory once I am home.
