Melbourne's alleys are for me like medieval "venelles", it really reminds me of the small streets around the Grand-Palce in Brussels, where I'm from.
There are 2 or 3 French lunch places where I love to come back...
- Marc and his waffles and sandwiches: on Degraves lane, just before the staircase to the station
- Michel and his crepes on Scott Lane, just before Port Phillip Arcade, off Flinders Lane
- Cafe au Soleil, on the side gallery off Royale Arcade - where they play music from a French FM radio station off the Internet!
Going there at lunchtime is a real break, like being thousands of km away...
