From the central city take the 70 tram to Camberwell or the Lilydale or Belgrave train to Camberwell, on a Sunday between 6am and 12 noon to find the most amazing flea market in the southern hemisphere. It's in the car park out side Target and just down from the railway station, and thru' an alley from the main shops.
Here for a gold coin donation ( the market is run by a Rotary Club) you can wander from stall to stall where people sell their old treasures, be it vintage clothing or books or designer fashion, silk ties, funiture, records etc etc, you name it I bet you will find it!!
When in Melbourne this is where I spend my sunday morning, hunting for my little bit of history. When I find it ,It gets wrapped in a supermarket bag,(mandatory wrapping for stall holders), and put into my bag as I wander some more, and then sit at one of the cafes bordering the market, sipping my cappuchino as I watch other people enjoy the array of treasures out on display. What better way to spend a relaxing Sunday morning. If you happen to be there on sunday 12th October you will most likely see me, Im the kiwi with a pink bit in my hair!
