Elwood beach and the near by village is where you find the TV and soap stars of Melbourne enjoying the shops and cafes, its pace is more relaxed than that of near by St Kilda. Elwood village has under gone major changes in the last few years with many bars and cafes open till late at night now to cater for the many famous who live close by. Paul Hester of Split Ednz and Crowded House opened the Elwood Beach House and Cafe for his friends and became a hit for its out door enclosed playground and stunning bay views. The Blue Tounge Cafe and Bar on Ormond Rd in the Village is a very cool place to have a drink after work and do a bit of star spoting. For somthing more grungy and retro hit the Elwood Lounge on Glenhuntly Rd live music most nights.
