When I was 17 (now 34!)and in my last year at school my Nanna took me to Melbourne for the weekend. It was so special as I was studying hard and she just suprised me with tickets to see the Phantom of the Opera! It was so exciting, I love muscials and in 1992 the Phantom was the musical to see.
I have spent approximately 12 months in Melbourne when I was a baby but of course have no memory of it. As luck would have it I still haven't returned; however the memories of that weekend are still so vivid. Not only was the muscial amazing and the company wonderful. (I just love my nanna.) the icing on the cake literally was having High Tea at the Windsor Hotel!
It was such a special expereince that from that day I always try 'to do' High tea wherever I am visiting and living.
Even my travels to the UK and the great hotels and high Teas there have never matched that first special one at the Windsor Hotel before seeing The Phantom of the Opera.
My advice as someone with a limited experience of Melbourne is to take someone you love "to do high tea at the Windsor and a show in Melbourne'. You will enjoy every moment.
