The Gippsland Lakes Discovery Trail passes through quiet farmland and enchanting forest, retracing the route of an historic light rail tramway, to arrive at Lakes Entrance and the beautiful Ninety Mile Beach. The ride can be undertaken in shorter sections (Bruthen to Lakes Entrance 36 kilometres, 4 hours one-way or Forestech to Lakes Entrance 13 kilometres, 90 minutes one-way) or over a leisurely two days with an overnight stay in Bruthen.
The track winds through the picturesque Colquhoun forest, with interpretation of key points of interest along the historic light rail tramway. The track is a well signposted and defined compacted gravel track suitable for mountain bike/hybrid bikes with thick tyres (for ease of ride and comfort along the trail).
