| Paperback Books is the quintessential bookshop in which to lose an afternoon. Despite being literally stacked to the rafters, it’s somehow never a struggle to find exactly what you want. Stocking both the latest and all-time favourites, it harks back to a time before slick visual merchandising and in-store cafés became dominant marketing devices. Instead, this is a place full of locals standing shoulder-to-shoulder, silently leafing through everything from popular science to cooking titles. It’s such an iconic haunt that the Paperback Bookshop and nearby Pellegrini’s restaurant are the bookends in many a wedding photo. M.PADULA Copyright © 2005 |
