| This Fitzroy hang-out is a moody venue with plenty of laidback appeal. Step inside and look around. You'll find yourself surrounded by artworks, candles, velvet and rough brick walls. The space is dark, bohemian and scarlet-blushed in parts. Barbukka's style is undeniably arty. The paintings on the walls create a gallery feel, and they're all for sale as well. Admire the artworks and sink into one of the well-worn retro sofas - which will probably remind you of your nanna's time-warped lounge room. Aside from the couchy appeal and the art, Barbukka is also a serious little live music venue. Wander in on any given night and you'll be able to catch rock bands belting out their stuff to the crowds. Recent performing acts include names such as Glove Box, Artinem, Deflekt, Mason's Edge and The Minority. Cover charges vary from event to event, depending on who's playing. Tap beers include brands such as Carlton Draught, Coopers and Stella Artois. Food is limited to simple finger food. Barbukka is also often available for private functions. |
