Episode 27: Presenters Home Towns
This week's heart-warming episode of Postcards gives viewers the opportunity to see where the show's presenters grew up. Suzie grew up near Mailing Road in Canterbury and still loves to go there. Glen enjoyed a happy childhood in Torquay and Brodie's early stomping ground was the glorious Mornington Peninsula - where she is planning to get married in the near future. Finlay, a small town located near the Murray River and three hours' drive from Melbourne was where Shane Crawford grew up, while Warrnambool was where it all began for Gorgi Quil.
Maling Rd - Suzie Wilks
Suzie grew up in the city of Boroondara and now likes to wander the shops of Maling Road in Canterbury. It's one of Melbournes most elegant streets combining everything from art to childrens toys and from fashion stores to homewares. There are shops that stock speciality items you cant get anywhere else, one of which is the childrens wear boutique Heather Brown. Food is another important component to the street with cafes galore, green grocers, a butcher and an exciting new cheese shop called Fromagerie and Charcuterie which recently won Best New Retailer of the Year. Leaving the cheese and truffles behind Suzie heads to the old cinema, now known as the Maling Rd Antique Market, it is a true treasure trove.

Torquay - Glen Moriarty
Glen was lucky enough to spend a lot of time around the Torquay - Jan Juc area on the surf coast when he was growing up. Café Moby in Torquay is still his favourite place to start the day; they do awesome coffee and a great breakfast. Moby is a massive hit with everyone from locals and tourists. Glens guide to the Torquay waters starts directly across the road from the cafe at the front beach. Its the best option for those looking for some protection from the waves and perfect for kids. On the other side of Point Danger youll find the Torquay Back beach. It's very popular for newcomers finding their feet in the water. The next beach along is Jan Juc and if youre planning on having a surf, the best place to check the conditions is at the Bird Rock car park. It gives you a birds eye view of Jan Juc, Bird rock, Sparrows, Caulders, Steps, Evos, and all the way down to Winkipop.
The last stop is the spot that put this place on the map, Bells beach. For more information on Torquay the Great Ocean Road section on this website.
Mornington Peninsular - Brodie Harper
Brodies early stomping ground is the magnificent Mornington Peninsular. As a young girl she spent her time swimming and fishing but now days, although she still loves the ocean, her spare time is spent visiting the vineyards. So it was off to one of her favourite wineries on the peninsula Willow Creek, which is located in Merricks North. There are 28 acres of vines here, planted mainly with Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The great thing about Willow Creek is that you can choose your favourite wines at the cellar door then take them to lunch at the award winning Salix Restaurant. Willow Creeks cellar door is open every day for tastings and Salix restaurant is open every day for lunch, and on Friday and Saturday nights for dinner.

Finley & Tocumwal - Shane Crawford
Shane grew up in a small country town three hours drive from Melbourne, near the Murray River; and just over the border in country NSW called Finley. Boasting just a few thousand residents he called it home for over 15 years. The beautiful folk of Finley were so excited when Shane won the Brownlow in 1999 that they changed the Finley sign to Crawford Town. Finleys a pretty small town so when you run out of things to do you head to the next big smoke along the Murray river,Tocumwal, or Toc as its known to the locals. Tocumwal Golf Course is a cracker and Shane has fond memories of the 17th hole where he scored his 1st whole in one! Within this historic township you must visit Tocumwal Pavilion, the local bakery, which has been churning out delicious goodies, like the unbeatable vanilla slice, for years.

Warrnambool- Gorgi Quil
Situated on the majestic and rugged coastline of Victorias Shipwreck Coast, Warrnambool is the largest city on the Great Ocean Road and home to Gorgi Quill. When she heads back home Gorgi likes to stay at Logans Beach Retreat. Its only meters from Logans Beach which is a great place to watch whales in the winter, and a hot spot for surfing in the summer. If theres one thing she has to do when shes comes back to the bool, its catch up with friends for a bite to eat and although there are many quality restaurants to dine at, Gorgi simply cant pass up a Kermonds burger. Kermonds hamburgers are a Warrnambool institution and for good reason. Theyre made using the freshest ingredients, and everything between the buns is produced locally.
