| From the proprietors of renowned Malaysian diner, Jack's Satay Bar, comes this elegant, understated Japanese teppan-yaki joint, which opened late in 2006 a block away from its older sibling. With ochre and dark grey walls, bluestone floors and plush grey suede settees that give way to modern black table settings and a large teppan-yaki cirque, the artistic decor feels more like being in a display room or gallery than a restaurant.
Striking interiors aside, teppan-yaki of king prawns, chicken, vegetables, egg and tofu is the specialty here, but the menu also offers traditional Japanese dishes like naso dengaku, vegetable tempura salad, soba noodles and Sukiyaka hot style hot pots with grilled miso chicken. You'll also find a range of sushi/sashimi combinations including the popular double salmon roll, which features a crispy salmon skin layer housing fresh salmon, sticky rice, lettuce and cucumber. Dessert is big on the anti-oxidants, with green tea-based recipes such as green tea custard pudding served with green tea ice cream, and green tea mousse.
