| On the site of the former Victorian Wine Room arrives Beer Deluxe, a new concept for Federation Square that hopes to bring art lovers, sports fans, tourists and locals alike streaming through its doors. With more than 80 beers on offer, Beer Deluxe is staking its claim as the bar in Melbourne to sample the best beer from Australia and around the world. Take your palate on a global tour through the beer menu, visiting lagers, ales, wheats, darks, trappists and dessert beers. There are currently three beers on tap but this will soon expand to six, with some likely to register long service while others rotate regularly. The decor in the Beer Salon is nothing like your beer barn; verdant leather banquettes partner polished timber benches and tables, with plenty of room to sit and enjoy some stylish Italian-influenced food. If you prefer an alfresco ale, step out into the glorious beer garden and enjoy the gourmet offerings from the burger bar. Wine drinkers are not forgotten and some regional classics from Australia and Europe grace the wine list, including pinot grigio from Italy and riesling from the Clare Valley. |
