| A good cocktail bar is hard to find, but look for the orange, old-school Triumph scooter along the Westgarth end of High Street and your long search will finally be at an end. Why, you might ask, isn't it signposted like every other bar? Because, quite frankly, Kelvin isn't like every other bar; it's a traditional cocktail venue in the darkest, moodiest, most seductive sense. The lighting is low and the wide, elegant bar snakes deep into a room lined with couches and populated by lustrous couples and people who seem important just by being there. Like the marble-topped bar, this place means business and yet it manages to exude sophistication without being pompous. The bar staff are attentive and will vary the music according to your mood. The old-fashioned class of Kelvin is enough to make you wish the films about gentlemen gangsters were true, inspiring romantic ideas of coming here with a pistol in your pocket (or are you just pleased to see me?) and sampling from the range of more than 70 traditional cocktails. Just by walking through the door, you can let your imagination run wild and step into the character of one of those smooth criminals.
