Backpacker - Getting about

Victoria has an efficient public transport system, making getting around simple and convenient. In Melbourne, a range of tickets covering three metropolitan zones and allowing you to travel on trains, trams and buses can be bought from vending machines at train stations, on trams or buses, or pre-purchased at selected shops.

Bus and train services reach all major cities and most towns in Victoria. There are also regular ferry services linking the popular beachside spots of Queenscliff and Sorrento.

Alternatively, you can take one of the many tours on offer, while a network of good roads means it’s easy to reach your destination by car, motorbike or bicycle.
