| In recent years, the streets of Fitzroy have become more and more gentrified, with the old warehouses and other buildings being converted into shops and apartments. One such conversion is the Lambsgo Bar, which is set within an old house in one of the suburb's back streets. Instead of modernising the joint, the owners have retained the building's original charm. A visit feels more like stopping in at a friend's place for a drink than a trip to the local boozer. That is, of course, as long as your friend has a DJ playing in the lounge room and a fridge stocked with more than 100 beers. The beer menu is a point of pride for the owners, whose main reason for opening the bar was to have a never-ending supply of beer. The brew list reads like a sudsy journey across the world. From Australia, there's Robinson's Hot Chilli beer and the fruity Jamieson Raspberry sitting alongside all the usual local brews. Broaden your horizons and you'll also discover Schlenkerla smoked beer from Germany, the devilish Satan from Belgium and Black Sheep Ale from the UK. Since beer is the specialty of the house, there's not much in the way of other drinks, however you will find a petite wine list and a vodka menu. |
