| Located in a restored 1876 building, Wine Bank on View lives up to its name with a staggering collection of hundreds of wines, including Australia's largest range of Bendigo and Heathcote wines. But it's not only the dazzling wine list that draws an excited clientele; Wine Bank chefs Nathan McKee and Mick Oughtred offer an inspiring menu of Mediterranean-influenced cuisine to complement all those quality drops. Grazing platters might include an antipasto plate of cured meat and vegetables, or lavosh with Middle Eastern dips, while the tapas list might feature Spanish meatballs in paprika-spiced salsa; or bruschetta with smoked salmon, mascarpone and dill. For something a little weightier to soak up that local shiraz, sample the porterhouse steak sandwich; or pan-seared tuna on steamed fennel with roasted capsicum, green bean salad and rustic woodfired ciabatta bread.
To top off your meal, Wine Bank offers delightfully homely desserts such as lemon sour cream cake or banana and caramel slices. Huddle up by the fire and dunk your slice in a cup of coffee, or sip a sweet glass of Yarra Valley moscato. |
