Auldstone Cellars is a newly restored, century old winery in the Glenrowan region. Winemaker Michael Reid has established a reputation for traditional full-bodied reds and their sparkling shiraz is terrific. Auldstone also offers some interesting riesling styles in their white range. Nancy Reid provides delightful lunches on weekends that should not be missed. Ben Canaider

History is never far away at Baileys. Nestled at the foot of the Warby Range, Baileys driveway meanders past old winery buildings, a workers cottage, a blacksmiths forge, stables, peppercorn trees, and the original 1870s winery. Its a perfect atmosphere for a place that makes red wines and fortifieds of heroic proportions and time-honoured traditional style. A must-see winery for any visitor to the region. Ralph Kyte-Powell
