This week the Postcards team have together some fantastic winter specials. It's winter and that means fires, red wine, gorgeous food and of course a warm bed. Suzie shows us an indulgent residence near Daylesford, whilst Gorgi dishes up some delights at a culinary school. Lovick's High Country Adventures
Glens winter getaway takes him to a beautiful property on the Howqua River just outside Mansfield around two and a half hours from Melbourne, where he is saddling up with legendary horseman Charlie Lovick. The property is owned by the Lovick family and sits opposite the state forest near the Alpine National Park. It provides some of the best horse riding scenery in the country. Alaine and Bart Beek came up with the Essence Food Studio idea over a bottle of wine seven years ago and now twice a week the conduct very special cooking classes from their home in Werribee. With 35 different themes no two nights are ever the same. Gorgi went along to the winter tummy warmer class which kicked off with pumpkin soup and the main dish for the evening was a slow roasted wood fired lamb loin filled with chorizo sausage cooked on a bed of rosemary infused mashed potato and loads of aromatic spices. Not only is the night choc full of amazing food and great entertainment but theres plenty of cooking tips. It resembles one big dinner party where live music is sprinkled between each course. Prices start at $90 per person and include 4 courses, 3 wines, live music and lots of prizes.
