Local produce on the Great Ocean Road
Sample the tempting array of local produce on offer in the Great Ocean Road region. Fishing fleets based at coastal villages ensure a regular supply of fresh seafood while the surrounding fertile volcanic plains produce some of Australia’s best fruits and dairy products, including top quality cheeses and ice cream.
Visit the local fishing cooperatives beside the wharfs at Queenscliff and Portarlington on the Bellarine Peninsula or Apollo Bay, Port Campbell, Port Fairy and Portland along the Great Ocean Road and purchase fresh seafood from the daily catch. Head inland and pick your own berries from farms near Colac, Gellibrand, Deans Marsh, Heywood and the Bellarine Peninsula or sample delicious gourmet cheeses and ice creams from selected stores, supermarkets and delicatessens throughout the region. The Bellarine Peninsula is also developing a reputation for high quality olive oils.
