Crimson walls, dark shadows and stiff drinks all set the scene, along with mirror balls, candles, and drapes made of strung glass beading. Yes, the ambience here is oh-so-eclectic, and well, so is Chaise's weekly event line-up.

Monday is always dedicated to intimate lounge cocktails, while Tuesday is all about wine tasting sessions. By Wednesday Chaise morphs into a live jazz den, and on Thursday it vibrates to the stylings of DJs and funk bands. DJ sounds continue with old-school and vocal house taking hold on Friday, and retro disco fever reigns on Saturday.

Behind the bar, there are more than 90 bottled beers from around the world. Two-for-one beer and Champagne deals are available on Friday evenings. Cocktail aficionados are also well catered for. Order up a Sonny Cheeba: it mixes Absolut Citron with Jagard, lemon myrtle, creme de gimbre, apple juice and lemon.
