| Head downstairs from Flinders Lane into this bunker-style bar. The long room is littered with plenty of inviting charcoal suede couches, matched with striking timber panelling and black bamboo tubes lining the ceiling. Head down the back of this dark and sexy space to find the bar. The fridges are stocked with a forest of boutique beers, including Erdinger, Mountain Goat Hightail Ale and Rooftop Red Lager, but the focus is on the quality spirits being poured, such as Tanqueray gin and Belvedere vodka. These top-shelf tipples are mixed into classic cocktails, with a few funky variations available for the more adventurous drinker. Try the Double Dragon, Bambu's spin on a martini with some sake in the mix. There are also a dozen wines by the glass, catering for both cork dorks and those who prefer their drinks to be easier on the wallet than the palate. Bambu is popular with the after-work-drinks crowd, but when the suits shift out the bar stays busy, with inner-city folk looking for their Friday night fix of funk and soul. DJs come on later in the evening, inching up the tempo of this relaxed watering hole.
