Take a step back in time these September School Holidays with a visit to Australia’s favourite outdoor museum, Sovereign Hill. Sovereign Hill will celebrate the school holidays with a host of activities designed to give families a taste of what life was like in the 1850s.

Here’s a snapshot of what to expect:

Join the Redcoats
Here’s you chance to be a soldier for the day. Sovereign Hill is seeking boys and girls to be recruited into the British Army of the 1850s. In this special program, children will be introduced to the daily life of a Redcoat Soldier encamped on the Goldfields.

Captain Candlelight Pantomime
The whole family will love this good old fashioned pantomime where you can boo the villain and cheer the hero and know that, in the end, good always triumphs.

Lola Montez Performs the Spider Dance
The famous entertainer Lola Montez was most notorious for her scandalous Spider Dance. So what was all the fuss about? Why not come and see for yourself?

Bush Dance
Grab your Mum and Dad, and come along and join the traditional bush dance in the Victoria Theatre. It’s a whole lot of fun and we will be there to help with some of the heel and toe moves.

Passport to Treasure
The Gold Museum invites families to go on a hunt around some of the Museum’s most interesting exhibits. Follow the trail correctly to pick up a tasty golden reward!

The Labyrinth of Gold
The Labyrinth of Gold Inclined Tramway takes riders into the dark depths of the Sovereign Hill Quartz Mine, where they are guided through a maze of tunnels.

Blood on the Southern Cross
The story of the Eureka Rebellion is retold nightly at Blood on the Southern Cross, Sovereign Hill's acclaimed sound-and-light spectacular. Two shows run each night, seven days a week, for 90 minutes in duration. Bookings are required.
