30 March - Mornington Peninsula
This week the Postcards team heads to the Mornington Peninsula. The coastal towns of Portsea and Sorrento were settled in the 1800's and have been popular with visitors ever since. Suzie is invited to visit fashion designer Margaret Porritt’s at her Portsea beach house. Shane catches up with fellow hawk Trent Croad at Sorrento’s front beach for some fun and Glen goes sailing before touring the Point Nepean Quarantine Station. Gorgi enjoys the life of luxury while Brodie takes us from Whitehall to the Three Palms.
Margaret Porritt's Beach House
One person who has made Portsea her holiday choice for 30 years is fashion designer Margaret Porritt of the Feathers Boutique empire. Aside from time she spent at her holiday home, Margaret loves to walk the back beach at Portsea and follows this with breakfast at The Smashing Bean in Sorrento. She and Suzie spend a great day together enjoying all these wonderful activities finally drawing to a close with cocktail hour and a beautiful view at the Sorrento Sailing Couta Boat Club.

Sailing and Quarantine Station
Sail Sorrento operate luxury cruises around Port Phillip Bay, where you can take in the sights and get up close and personal with some of the bay residents. After cruising around the bay, Glen checks out the Point Nepean Quarantine Station. Built back in 1852 this was the first port of call for many of our early immigrants. From 1951 the Military used the site as an Officer Cadet school. Over the last couple of years its been home to the Point Nepean Music festival. If youre interested in the history of this fascinating sight then join up with a tour operated by Nepean Historical Society. Everywhere you look youll find a piece of history where the previous tenants have left their mark.
