Ednafest hits Melbourne
It's time to pull out the glad rags, Possums. Melbourne's very own Dame Edna Everage is hitting town to celebrate 50 golden years, culminating in the Barry Humphries and Friends – Back With A Vengeance stage spectacular.
Ednafest
It's 50 years since Australia's favourite housewife turned 'gigastar' first stepped shyly into the spotlights. To celebrate, Melbourne is hosting Ednafest, a series of events and exhibitions celebrating those 50 golden years.
Ednaville
The highlight of the Ednafest will be Dame Edna’s original house exhibition, Ednaville, a recreation of the lovely suburban home of Mrs Norm Everage at the George Adams Gallery of the Arts Centre.
Edna at the Arts Centre
The Arts Centre will also be the venue for two other Ednaesque events: Mega Gowns, a dazzling display of some of the Dame’s vast collection of striking but always tasteful gowns; and Virtually Edna, an on-line doco probing the Melbourne roots of this extraordinary woman.
Housewife on screen
At ACMI there’s Housewife Superstar on Screen, classic Dame Edna television moments. And at the State Library of Victoria, in the Dome Galleries, Dame Edna’s Wildlife in Suburbia traces Edna Everage’s career.
