Beaches in the Great Ocean Road

Beach near Lorne

The Great Ocean Road region has some of the most impressive beaches in Australia. Kilometres of clean, golden sand and gentle waves can be found all along the coast. Visit family friendly swimming beaches at Anglesea, Lorne and Apollo Bay or enjoy some of Victoria’s best surf at world-renowned Bells Beach and Johanna Beach. For something a bit more wild, travel further west and visit the remote and windswept Cape Bridegwater.

In contrast, the Bellarine Peninsula on the far south eastern corner of the region offers calm bayside beaches with shallow tranquil water that is ideal for splashing about, having a relaxing swim or lazing on the beach. Popular beaches that entice visitors all year round include Geelong, St Leonards, Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale.
