Geelong waterfront
Geelong's picturesque waterfront is the perfect place to take in the sea air, dine alfresco and enjoy a hive of waterfront activities.
Eastern Beach
At Eastern Beach, sit back and enjoy the bay views from one of the many waterfront restaurants or enjoy a picnic beside the art deco-style pool and promenade. Built in the 1930s, the park and pools have become city landmarks, drawing crowds for more than 70 years. A highlight for the kids is the antique carousel. The lovingly restored steam-driven carousel, housed in a contemporary building of steel and glass, is a colourful reminder of bygone days.
Public art
Discover the wealth of public art works along the waterfront from the whimsical Baywalk Bollards to the Cargo Boxes. The Baywalk Bollards represent a fascinating and fun chronicle of the city's past, focusing on some of the unique characters who played a part, including young ladies in neck-to-knee bathing costumes, lifesavers, footballers and fishermen.
Geelong Botanic Gardens
Stroll through Geelong's historic Botanic Gardens. Explore the newly created 21st Century Gardens featuring native plants against a backdrop of Australian colours. The contemporary garden complements the work of the Botanic Gardens' first two curators, Daniel Bunce (1857-1872) and John Radenberry (1872-1896), who left a legacy of rare and old trees and exotic plants many of which are classified by the National Trust.
For a different view of the waterfront, take to the water and enjoy a scenic cruise around Corio Bay or take to the air in a helicopter.
