The Murray is host to exciting events throughout the year. Join the fun of music and food and wine festivals, sporting events and art expos.
Head to Mildura in March and August when dance, theatre, music and the spoken word from Australia’s leading poets and authors are brought together at the Mildura Wentworth Arts Festival. In September the Mildura Country Music Festival presents Australia’s biggest showcase of independent country music artists. The Mildura Jazz and Wine Festival in November combines the best of Australian modern and traditional jazz with the opportunity to sample the region’s fine wines at wineries and on riverboats, restaurants and streetscapes.
The Riverboats Jazz, Food and Wine Festival, held each February in Echuca-Moama, is a celebration of jazz and blues, enjoyed with great food and wine alongside the Murray River. For a change of pace, catch the Club Marine Southern 80 in February, the largest waterskiing race in the world, which attracts over 40,000 spectators or the annual Murray Marathon in December, which is the longest canoe race in the world. The race is a gruelling 404 kilometres along the river between Yarrawonga and Swan Hill that attracts over 6,000 participants.
Albury Wodonga plays host each year to a spectacular food and wine event, the Albury Wodonga Wine and Food Festival – three days of food and wine events ranging from food films to the producers’ picnic on the banks of the Murray.
