| The Kent is a quintessential North Carlton watering hole, a tranquil and stylish hotel where there's almost always room for one more. The cavernous front bar is light and airy, with high ceilings, polished floorboards and banks of bi-fold timber and glass doors. Here you will find clutches of families catching up, Sex In the City-style girlie groups gossiping over a glass of wine and couples unwinding over beer at the end of the day. The Kent has a relaxed, smart atmosphere and attractive decor, with wooden tables and large European prints festooning the walls. The popular restaurant is housed at one end, the blackboard displaying the daily menu for both bar and restaurant patrons. During the warmer months, locals spread out along outdoor tables set up on the extended pavement and peer across into the greenery of Curtain Square. Waiters will fetch Stella and Cascade beers from the taps, or perhaps a bracing glass of riesling. Sheltered from the world with hedges and protected from the elements with market umbrellas, little ones are welcome here, be they of the canine or human variety. |
