Huge windows flood the main bar with glorious sunlight, which bounces off the highly polished dark wooden bar and streaks up the walls of wine stacked to the ceiling. Step to the bar and dive into the encyclopaedic cocktail list, or just ask the staff for a recommendation, like the capitalist running dog. There's an extensive and well-priced wine list, and quality beers like Chimay on offer by the bottle.

Saunter through to the back and settle into a leather booth by one of the two open fireplaces. Check out the geometric wallpaper and a classic '70s girl pinup that just has to be admired. There's a cute beer garden with fairy lights that's a treat in the warmer months and local artist's wares are on proud display to be purchased, if you're quick.

There's a small DJ booth down the front where local mix masters spin their stuff on Saturdays. Sundays play host to local singer/songwriters, the perfect tonic to ease the thought of Monday.
