The Latrobe Visitor Information Centre is the first Level 1 accredited centre along the M1 Princes Highway from Melbourne. This means that we are a dedicated tourism information centre offering professional and local knowledge on central and west Gippsland. Our team of passionate staff and friendly volunteers are at your service! The Latrobe Valley is a central and convenient place to explore a diverse range of wonderful nearby attractions. Ideally located, its position within west Gippsland region makes it central to an abundant array of natural wonders including the bush, snowfields, lakes and beaches. The region offers something for everyone. Key highlights of the area include the cool temperate rainforest Tarra Bulga National Park as well as nearby Morwell National Park. Discover one of the most successful old gold mining towns in Victoria, Walhalla. The Latrobe Valley is also the major producer of Victoria’s electricity! The area is fertile in brown coal deposits and visitors have the opportunity to learn about the production of electricity whilst in the area and explore one of the Power Stations on tour.
