Mizu, which is the Japanese word for water, is a welcome new addition to the Greville Streetscape after a six-year reign on nearby Commercial Road. Perch on a stool in the window to watch passers by as you sip on a lunchtime sake and munch on fresh sushi, sashimi, steaming hot pots and a host of other traditional Japanese dishes.

Maintaining personal service and reasonable prices is the top priority according to Kiyo Ko, who owns and operates the restaurant with partner and chef, Koji. Along with a loyal customer base, this philosophy has earned Mizu mentions in The Age Good Food and Cheap Eats guides. The pair has a strong history in fine dining experience, also being the team behind Melbourne's first Japanese restaurant, The Stone Garden (Bourke Street). With casual indoor and outdoor seating, funky red and black decor and a position right at the intersection of Greville Street and Prahran station, Mizu is also good choice for light dinner before a heavy night out at nearby clubs and bars.
