The Serigraph Gallery was established in 1996. Located in picturesque Neerim South, it is a local centre point for the visual arts. Dedicated to the display and promotion of both functional and non-functional innovative modern artworks, it represents a wide variety of artists, many local, in the mediums of painting, printmaking, photography, glass, ceramics, jewellery, furniture, textiles and sculpture. Exhibited also are the works of resident artists Christine Cochran and Keith Graham. Christine is a painter and printmaker working mainly in mixed media, acrylics and silkscreen. Her technique of using beautiful handmade papers with gold leaf, acrylic and ink, gives a vibrant highly textured look, lately to paintings of seasonal fruits and arid landscapes. Keith's contemporary furniture features a mix of bold angular works, contrasting with more sensuous, curved forms. His designs include variations on tables - hall and coffee tables, glass cabinets, display stands and mirrors, using largely recycled and local timbers. Only a little over an hour drive east from Melbourne, The Serigraph Gallery also has a small cafe set amongst the artworks, serving delicious coffee and homemade cakes. |
