Study in Victoria

STUDY IN VICTORIA

Studying and living in Australia is great value for money, especially in comparison to the UK and USA, and the quality of our universities means that Victoria is a major destination for overseas students.

Victoria's universities
Prestigious institutions such as the city-based University of Melbourne, RMIT University and Monash University as well as the regional University of Ballarat are internationally recognised for the quality of teaching, high academic standards and provision of supportive study environments. In addition, graduates from these universities are some of the most sought-after in the national and international career market.

The academic year
Australia’s academic year runs from February to December with applications for many tertiary courses closing the previous October.

For international students a level of proficiency in English is a prerequisite to enter mainstream institutions. A number of tertiary institutions offer mid-year intakes for particular courses, while English language courses have more frequent student intakes.

Student accommodation and transport
Most universities provide on-campus accommodation and are equipped to help students find a place to live. Accommodation options include homestays, boarding schools, shared housing, apartments and quality campus facilities. As an overseas student in Victoria you may be eligible for public transport discounts if you are part of a recognised exchange program, if you have refugee status, or if you hold an Australian Development Scholarship.
