| With an enormous organic/macrobiotic and wholefoods supermarket at its rear, Macro Wholefood's Cafe welcomes in shoppers with a healthy and tempting selection of dishes. Fresh fruit is juiced to order and the organic decaf coffee, blended by Sydney roaster Tony Papas, makes a guilt-free start to the day. The breakfast pancakes come with yoghurt and poppy seeds with mixed berries or banana with maple syrup, while the mixed mushrooms on toast with spinach pesto and parmesan include enoki, shiitake, buttons and Swiss browns. The dishes are mainly vegan/vegetarian and everything is purely organic, if not raw macrobiotic. If this normally translates to bland and tasteless, the global lunch menu of miso soup, nachos, Byron pies, pasta, Tunisian rye sandwiches and pides - as well as an inspired range of salads - will leave your preconceptions shaken.
