Heathcote is a small rural township nesteld amidst box ironbark forests, with a strong historical background dating from the 1850's. Heathcote has many physical and social attributes - the climate, the nearby peaceful bush environment and fine wines. The heritage buildings of fine Victorian architecture, spectacular views, antiques and crafts, galleries, bushwalking, National & State Parks are all within easy reach. The Visitor Centre provides a friendly atmosphere, bright surroundings with a comprehensive display of surrounding Parks. The Centre has local produce, maps, crafts and gifts available for purchase. The Centre is located on the Northern Highway in Heathcote with good access and visibilty to all travellers. Heathcote, although a relatively new wine region, is developing a reputation for producing some of the finest wines in Australia. Its unique cambrian soils produce internationally known fine wines, including Shiraz, Malbec, Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon. |
